As dog groomers, we focus on maintaining your dog’s appearance and well-being. We believe regular grooming is essential to a healthy pet. We’ll give your furry loved one personalised hands-on care.
While at K9 Chic we can arrange for your beloved companion to visit the vets next door, at Murrays Veterinary Clinic, to receive their annual health vaccinations, worm and flea treatment, or for any other concerns you may have. Saving you precious time in making several trips to have the health of your companion checked.
We strive to offer quality and professional grooming services for all dog breeds.
Every dog is different and many of the same breed have individual shapes and different types of coats.
We like to style your dog’s groom to suit their body shape, coat style and especially their personality.
This service is ideal for those in-between or mid-winter visits for longer haired dogs. A warm bath using hypo-allergenic shampoo and conditioner followed by a blow dry and brush out with a trim of the face, feet, tail and bottom - perfect for maintaining a matt free coat.
No clipping of the body. (Dogs that are excessively matted will incur an additional fee)
Following a warm bath and blow dry, this package is an intense brushing and combing service to remove excess undercoat and dead loose shedding hair without having to clip the coat. Ideal for breeds that shed a lot of hair e.g. Labradors, Retrievers, Corgis, Huskies, Samoyed or Border Collies etc. (Conditioning treatment available on request)
Medicated shampoo as prescribed by your veterinarian will assist in soothing and repairing damaged skin. The medicated shampoo we use is ideal for dogs with hot spots, assisting in removing scabs, dandruff and infection associated with skin conditions.
A hygiene clip is great way to help keep those delicate areas clean and tidy. This service includes clipping of the hair around paws, clip around tummy, bottom and trim eyes (no bath or brush).
Our beach wash is a quick and convenient way to refresh your pet’s coat, after a trip to the beach, farm or having rolled in some mud. The service includes a deep coat wash to remove sand and grit from the coat followed by a towel dry.
At K9 Chic, a full groom includes a bath, blow-dry and body cut. Our groomers are experienced in the traditional clips for most breeds and can work with you for your personal specifications. It is important to choose a style that is practical for your dog’s life style, skin and health condition and coat type, all these factors influence the way in which your dog can be styled.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dogs that show a tendency to bite or jump around maybe muzzled or attached to a grooming arm for their safety and ours. Dogs that are uncontrollable may not be able to be groomed. In our experience this is a rare occurrence. If, however your pet is extremely distressed, following consultation with you, a mild sedation may be administered, under veterinary care from Murrays Veterinary Clinic.
Once your pet becomes elderly or infirm they may not accept a lengthy grooming procedure. For their comfort and safety, they will be groomed in simple styles for cleanliness and comfort.
An assistant may be used to help support them and provide reassurance.
The health, safety, care and comfort of your pet is our primary concern. We strive to offer superior quality and professional grooming service for all pets.
We recognise the special bond that clients share with their pets and along with their owner, we value their health and well-being.
We understand that your pet has many emotions and we will take into consideration the effect a grooming visit may have on them. Most pets, while visiting K9 Chic enjoy their time here and love the attention they receive from their groomer.

Puppies are welcome to visit K9 Chic to have their first groom. This grooming session will be dependent on the individual pup, our priority is to keep your puppy happy and stress free as possible. The goal of the first groom is to get the puppy used to the sounds, smell and sights of the grooming environment and to become used to being handled for grooming. A puppy’s first groom is more about what you can do rather than what you want to do. Keep in mind that their first impression of grooming will last a life time and we want to make this experience as fun, pleasant and enjoyable. The groom normally involves a tidy of the face, bottom and feet. No bath or blow dry.
At K9 Chic we believe our clients deserve the best and would like to reward our returning and loyal customers with our K9 Chic Club Card.
When your dog is groomed at K9 Chic you are invited to join our Club Card loyalty programme, joining is free and enrolment is completely optional.
Each time your dog is groomed we will stamp your Club Card. Once completed you can claim your loyalty reward and receive a discount of your groom.
To ensure your beloved companion is always safe and comfortable at K9 Chic your dog may spend a short period of time in a kennel while they wait for you to pick them up. Here they can relax and often have a nap before heading home. We don’t leave dogs tethered or run free, as this could be a safety risk for both your dog and staff. If needed the groomers will take your dogs for a ‘wee’ break, using a lead they will take them out onto the lawn outside the grooming room. Dogs that show a tendency to bite or jump around may be muzzled for their and our safety.
At K9 Chic we understand that customers sometimes need to change or cancel their appointment, however we ask that you give us 24 hours cancellation notice. This would be greatly appreciated and valuable to us as it allows time to book another client. Same day or missed appointments will incur a charge of $15.
If your dog is new to grooming and begins to show any sign of distress, the groomer will complete the final tidy up and stop the groom. The last thing we want is for your dog to learn to hate to be groomed. We want it to be a fun and enjoyable experience.
Our groomers can provide you with some tips on what you can do at home in preparation for grooming to help your dogs grooming experience be more enjoyable.
Don’t worry all dogs are bathed in warm water and receive an all-over massage during the conditioning stage of the wash. Very rarely do we find dogs not enjoying their bath.
If your dog is really matted and you have concerns, simply talk with our team regarding your concerns and questions. If our groomer discover matting that will compromise the look you were after, they will phone and discuss options.
Regular grooming, every 4 to 6 weeks, is essential for pets to have a manageable coat. If dogs are not groomed regularly, it may result in your dog’s coat becoming severely matted. Although the coat may look neat and tidy the matting can occur close to the skin which left matted could result in skin issues and problems such as hot spots, sores, rash, flea infestations etc. This is true for non-shedding breeds such as Poodles, Bichons, Shih Tzus, Terriers, Lhasa Apsos etc. If your dog has a shedding coat grooming can be done every 8 to 12 weeks if thorough brushing is done at home.
If your dog’s coat is matted, it is extremely painful for him /her, if we brush their hair instead of shaving. The hair is already damaged and brushing it won’t unfortunately make it healthy again.
Your dog can have their breakfast before arriving at K9 Chic, we just request that you ensure they have had a toilet break at home so there are no surprises on the groom table!
Sorry, we don’t offer discount on multiple dogs. Whether they are from one home or 4 different homes it takes the same time to groom each dog. However please join K9 Chic Club Card. This is a loyalty scheme for our clients, offering a discount on grooming.
Absolutely! We keep detailed customer information for each client and the services provided at each visit.
